Meta lead forms are one of the cheapest ways to capture qualified leads, and the custom questions are where the real value lives. When someone tells you their loan amount, their timeline, or their role in the buying decision, that answer should be sitting in a field your sales team can see and act on. Too often it is buried, unmapped, or dumped into a notes field nobody reads. Here is how to surface those answers as proper HubSpot contact properties.

Why the custom answers get lost

The standard Meta-to-HubSpot connection handles the obvious fields well: name, email, phone. Custom questions are trickier. Their answers arrive in a structure that does not automatically map to a clean contact property, so they end up concatenated into a single blob, stuffed into a generic field, or dropped entirely. The lead comes in, but the most useful thing about it, the answer to your qualifying question, is not usable.

That defeats the purpose. The reason you asked “what is your timeline” was so a rep could prioritize accordingly. If that answer is not in a filterable, visible property, you paid for information you cannot use.

The goal: one question, one property

The fix is to map each custom question to its own dedicated HubSpot contact property. When “What is your budget range” becomes a Budget Range property, sales can see it on the contact record, filter and segment on it, trigger workflows from it, and report on it. The information becomes operational instead of decorative.

That means creating a HubSpot property for each question you want to use, and then building the mapping that pulls each answer out of the incoming lead payload and writes it to the right property.

Building the mapping

This is where an orchestration step earns its place. The incoming lead data contains the question and answer pairs, and you need logic that reads each answer and routes it to the matching property. The reliable pattern is:

  • Create a clean HubSpot property for each question, with a type that fits the answer (dropdown for fixed choices, text for open answers, number for amounts).
  • Build a step that reads the incoming answers and maps each one to its property by matching on the question.
  • Handle the case where a question is skipped or an answer is unexpected, so a missing value does not break the whole contact update.

Match on something stable rather than the exact question wording, because if you edit a question’s text later, a mapping keyed on that text will silently stop working.

Keep the properties clean

Once the answers land in properties, they are only as useful as they are consistent. Use dropdowns with fixed options where the question has fixed answers, so you are not trying to segment on a dozen spellings of the same thing. Consistent, structured answers are what make the data usable for routing, scoring, and reporting later.

Getting Meta lead form answers into real HubSpot properties turns raw leads into qualified, actionable records your sales team can prioritize. Growth Wizard builds this mapping so every question you ask on a lead form shows up as usable data, not a wasted field. If your Meta leads arrive with their best information buried, this is the fix.
